Frequently asked questions:
1) How do I install my leash and where should the plug go?
Before installing a leash you will need a ruler, a quarter and a Phillips head screwdriver. What you want to do is measure about 6” to 7” down from the nose and find a spot where you want the leash to be attached. It is best to put it off to one side of the middle depending on what arm you wear the leash. Placing the leash directly in the middle can lead to hitting the stringer, which could quite possibly ruin your board. You also want to be sure that the leash is at leash 2” away from the rail.
When installing the leash, you want to mark a perfect place in which to install the leash. Take your Phillips head screwdriver and pierce the board all the way through from top to bottom. Now take the male and female parts of the leash plug and connect them together through the board. You want the plug to be tight and flush to prevent rubbing.
2) How do I clean and store my board?
You always want to rinse your board off after every use. This will prevent salt water from eating your board’s materials away over the years. When you store your board, you always want to keep it in a cooler area to prevent bubbling from excessive heat exposure. Whenever you are at the beach and it is hot, you want to try and keep your board in the shade, if there is no shade, try to cover it with a towel and keep it slick side up. Always stand your board on it’s nose, because when you store it on the tail, it has a tendency to ruin the tail pegs over time.
3) How do you repair a hole or small de-lam in your board?
The best way to fix holes or de-lams on your board is by Shoe Goo, Spongerez, or a hot glue gun. You can buy Shoe Goo or Spongerez here and this stuff works great for just filling in holes or mending back a de-lam. Just dab in as much as you need , smooth out and let dry for about 12 hours. Hot glue also works as well. Remember that when you do a repair like this, you want to make sure the board has been left to dry out for about a week and a half, this will help the glue to bond better. If the hole is on the bottom skin, it is best to fill in the hole and then try to cover the repair with a sticker.
4) How do I avoid creasing?
There is no way to avoid creasing, a board can crease at any place any time. No company can guarantee against creasing, all bodyboards are a hand made product and certain pressure on an area can almost always create a crease. If you want a board that will last longer and stay flat, we recommend you buy a board with a stringer. Stringers give boards more strength and allow a board to stay nice and flat, even after creasing.
5) How do you tell what size board is right for you?
The best rule on finding a board that is the right height for you, is to measure boards standing on their tails and seeing if they come close to your belly button while standing up. When you are standing up, a proper sized board should come exactly to the height of your belly button. Check out the Board Size Chart for specifics below!. Bodyboard Size Chart |
